Poppy Jones

EDUCATION

Poppy read Law at University of Warwick, obtaining a First Class Honours. Alongside her training contract, she has been studying a Master of Laws with BPP, and sitting her SQE1 and SQE2 exams (passing both in the top quintile). 

ACCOLADES

Poppy received a Reward and Recognition Award from the Law Commission for her work on Welsh translation. She also placed as a runner up in 1 King Bench Walk’s Essay Competition 2021, with “Should the family law of England and Wales replace the terms ‘mother’ and ‘father’ with a broad definition of ‘parent’?”.

CAREER

Poppy has experience working with a range of high-net worth clients, including in cases with offshore and trust assets. She has extensive experience in cases involving business valuations, post-separation accrual arguments and complicated asset structures. Before starting the graduate training programme at Vardags, Poppy spent two years working as a Research Assistant at the Law Commission in the Public Law and Law in Wales team.

PERSONAL

Poppy is a soprano in Côr Llundain, a Welsh language choir based in London, who compete regularly in national competitions and recently recorded with the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also a keen sportswoman, and while at University of Warwick served as President of the Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club, regularly competing in University League competitions. In her free time, Poppy enjoys reading, creative writing, surfing and learning to ice skate. She is an open water certified Scuba diver, and is aiming to take her advanced qualification soon.
