My spouse wants me to sign a post-nuptial agreement

A post-nuptial agreement is an agreement between spouses which sets out how their assets are held. Sometimes it will only become effective on divorce, whilst some are immediately applicable.

Entering into a post-nup allows both parties to understand where they stand and what will happen whether they stay together or their marriage comes to an end. Generally speaking, courts will uphold post-nuptial agreements upon divorce.

If your spouse is suggesting a post-nup, it is vital that you have a full understanding of their assets and proper legal advice. Post nuptial agreements are highly likely binding and will affect you for the rest of your life. If you enter into it without knowing just how much your partner has or the affect of your agreement, you may well do a bad deal.

Vardags will help you decide whether a post-nup is the right thing for you and negotiate it for you. We will explore and investigate your partners assets and ensure you have full protection both in the short and long term.
