Hannah Yellop

Career 

Hannah trained at Vardags, which gave her an early and strong grounding in financially complex family matters. She has since built a broad family law practice across several leading firms, developing expertise in finances on separation, divorce, cohabitation, civil partnerships, injunctive relief, and children matters including domestic and international relocation and child abduction. Her work has a growing focus on enforcement issues in both financial and children matters, including cross-border and jurisdictional cases. She also has notable experience advising the LGBTQIA+ community on the full range of family law issues, including those arising from polyamorous relationships.

Hannah has been involved in notable cases including Chai v Peng and A v B (A Child) [2018]. 

Education 

Hannah read Philosophy and Theology at the University of St Andrews, graduating with an MA (Hons) in 2012. She subsequently completed her Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Westminster with commendation, and her Legal Practice Course at The City Law School, City University London, with distinction.

Hannah is a native English speaker, an intermediate German speaker, and is learning Russian.

PERSONAL

Outside of work, Hannah is passionate about botany and plant husbandry, cultivating a diverse collection of houseplants, orchids, cacti and succulents. She enjoys exploring the British countryside, hiking and mountain climbing, as well as capturing wildlife through macro and entomological photography. A keen multi-instrumentalist and accomplished performer, she has played at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia. Hannah is also a qualified helicopter pilot, an experienced karate competitor, and enjoys travel, with her latest challenge being training for the New Zealand Middle-Earth Marathon.
