Richard Barge

CAREER

Richard has extensive experience in all aspects of family law, with a particular niche in drafting and advising on pre- and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements. He qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and went on to establish himself as one of the leading family lawyers in Shropshire, North Wales and the North West, spending over a decade as Head of Family Law and Partner at Aaron & Partners LLP, including nine years as Equity Partner.

Richard acts for high net worth individuals with significant assets both in the UK and offshore, regularly advising business directors and shareholders, farmers, landowners, and professionals or their spouses. His cases typically involve complex financial structures, including trusts, business assets, self-invested pensions, and assets located outside the UK. His client skills, ability to identify the core issues, and robust, commercial advice have built a reputation that sees the majority of his clients come from former clients or professional referrals.

Richard is a fully trained collaborative lawyer and was instrumental in establishing a collaborative group in the Black Country. Most recently, he spent over a year as Legal Practice Advisor to the Law Commission of England and Wales, working within the Property, Family and Trust Law Team on the Financial Remedies reform project.

EDUCATION

Richard obtained a first-class degree in Law from Birmingham City University.
