Sophie Lambert

career

Sophie has worked in family law since 2011, and has a broad range of specialisms, most notably, in children law, matrimonial law, domestic abuse cases, and international abduction matters. Prior to working at Vardags, she spent nine years at a firm ranked as number 1 for children law by both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Sophie became a Senior Associate at Vardags in August 2026.

Notable cases

• R v P (Children: Similar Fact Evidence) [2020] EWCA Civ 1088 (18 August 2020) in which the Court clarified the correct test to be applied when the issue of propensity arises when there are similar facts in other related cases.  

• M (A Child) [2017] EWCA Civ 2445 which involved an appeal against a fact-finding judgement and determined what factors the trial Judge was entitled to consider and rely upon.  

• Re G & H (Children: Placement for Adoption) [2023] EWFC 31 which had international elements and involved adoption of children following non accidental injuries suffered by the children. 

Education

Sophie completed her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Plymouth. She later completed her LPC at the University of the West of England, receiving a Commendation. 

In 2016, she was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEX), and in 2024 was admitted as a CILEX Litigator and Advocate

Personal

Sophie enjoys the outdoors and being active, and spends a lot of time hiking, running, and keeping fit. She has a passion for travel and exploring new countries and cuisines with her friends.
