Vardags raise over £11,000 for Smart Works

With 2,400 miles cycled between 25 intrepid Vardags employees, we are delighted to announce that Vardags has raised a total of £11,109 for Smart Works! Congratulations to all those who took part.

Smart Works is a charity dedicated to tackling long term unemployment among women. It provides both high quality interview clothes and training to unemployed women in need. With referrals from job centres, work programmes, prisons, care homes and homeless shelters, Smart Works supports those from all backgrounds with a remarkable level of success – 65% of those they work with go on to get the job they applied for.

Each year, the charity organises the Cycle for Smart Works initiative in which it challenges teams of five riders to cover a total of 500 miles.

This year, Vardags put forward five teams, each comprising five members, to take part. From static bikes to seemingly endless laps of Regents Park, our teams cycled a combined 2,400 miles. To put this into perspective, this is roughly the distance from our head office in London’s Old Bailey to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan!

This success in the saddle was replicated by the team’s fundraising efforts, with our five teams raising a total of £6,109. The firm itself pledged a further £5,000, bringing our grand total to £11,109, roughly an eighth of the entire fundraising target for London!
