Ayesha Vardag comments on the increase in domestic violence and the governments efforts to strengthen the Domestic Abuse Act.

Divorce lawyer Ayesha Vardag has provided her insights on the alarming increase in reports of domestic violence in an article published by The Daily Mail. According to Vardag, there has been a significant surge in the number of enquiries related to domestic abuse, with a rise of over a third since 2018.

The forms of abuse mentioned by Vardag include physical violence, narcissism, and gas-lighting. Vardags comments are in response to the governments efforts to strengthen the Domestic Abuse Act by implementing tougher measures for perpetrators. She believes that the new legislation has not only raised awareness but has also led to an increase in the reporting of domestic abuse cases.

Vardag emphasises that victims are blindsided by gifts, holidays, demonstrations of their partners love for them in multiple forms. She encourages women who find themselves in such situations to seek professional help, starting with therapy, as a crucial step towards breaking free from the cycle of abuse.
