Vardags Italy first opened its doors in January 2026 with an office in Milan. We quickly expanded across the country and now have offices in Rome, Verona, Naples, Bologna and Florence, serving clients throughout northern, central and southern Italy. With a an established expertise in complex and high net worth family law matters, we have quickly become the firm of choice for those navigating the most consequential cases, built on a reputation for results, discretion, and a team of elite lawyers.

Rather than building these teams from scratch, we sought out lawyers who had already established themselves as leading names in their own right — bringing the judgement, discretion, and strategic instinct that only the most demanding cases can teach. Our Italian team brings decades of combined experience across the country’s highest courts and most complex international disputes, extending the same rigour and strategic excellence that has long defined Vardags to clients across Italy.

When Vardags expanded into Italy, we didn’t build teams from the ground up — we brought together four of the country’s most respected family lawyers, each already established as a leading name in their own region, and gave them a shared platform for the first time.

Milan

Maria Fiorito, Partner
Dual-qualified as an Italian Avvocato and an England & Wales solicitor, Maria spent years at two of Milan’s largest family law firms before building a reputation in London as the go-to lawyer for Italian clients navigating English divorce — earning coverage in La Notizia for offering an "Italian style" of divorce practice in the city, and contributing to The International Comparative Legal Guide.

Florence and Bologna

Manuela Tirini, Senior of Counsel 
With more than three decades practising Italian, European, and international family law, Manuela has been admitted to plead before Italy’s highest courts since 2007, with experience extending to the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. She has served on the Bologna Bar Association since 1994 and sits on the governing board of Italy’s leading family law association.

Rome and naples

Maria Giuseppina Chef, Senior of Counsel 
A third-generation family law practitioner with over forty years of experience, Maria has advised on family crises and asset protection — including trusts and fondi patrimoniali — throughout her career, and has been published and cited in national legal and media publications since the 1990s.

Verona

Giuliana Castelletti, Senior of Counsel 
With over twenty years in family law and a particular focus on cross-border disputes, Giuliana is widely regarded as a leading authority on private international family law in Italy. She has held a lectureship in EU family law at the Universities of Verona and Trento, and sits on the Executive Board of AIAF, the Italian Association of Lawyers for Families and Minors.
