Lucy Winter, Senior Associate
Lucy advises clients in all aspects of criminal law, with particular expertise in defending clients accused of serious sexual offences. She is experienced in representing clients facing investigation for complex fraud matters, including boiler room frauds, money laundering and defrauding HMRC. Lucy has a very high success rate in avoiding prosecution for her clients when instructed at the very first stage of investigations. She also assists in representing professional clients facing investigations by their professional bodies as a consequence of the criminal allegations.
Lucy specialises in assisting clients facing criminal and regulatory investigations which will severely impact their family, public or professional life. She ensures that every case is thoroughly prepared before the prosecuting body has considered charge, in order to avoid prosecution altogether. Lucy works closely with the Privacy & Reputation team for high profile clients to ensure that their profile and/or career is not impacted by the investigations.

Lucy read law at Cardiff University before completing the Bar Vocational Course at The College of Law in Bloomsbury. She was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 2010. Whilst working as a paralegal in a criminal defence firm she decided to qualify as a Solicitor and did so in 2015 after completing the Legal Practice Course and her training contract.
Lucy is a Senior Associate in our Criminal Defence team. She has over 8 years of experience in representing clients in the full range of criminal offences including drug offences, serious assaults against adults and children and sex offences. With a particular emphasis on sexual offences from Rape to Possession of Indecent Images. She is a keen advocate and has a great deal of experience representing clients in the Magistrates and Youth Court.
In her spare time Lucy enjoys cooking, skiing and playing netball.
