Education: Passionate about human rights and social justice from a young age, Jo read History and completed an MA in American History at the University of Newcastle before converting to law.

Strongly committed to making family law modern, Jo is an influential voice in the legal sphere. She is a prodigious blogger and contributor to the legal press. She also contributes to legal scholarship, writing for family law journals and Lexis Nexis. Jo is involved in the local media, featuring in the North East Times and BBC Newcastle Radio, and local charities, most notably organising large events for the Sunshine Trust.

Career: Marked as a Legal 500 rising star in her native north east circuit, Jo joined a high end Mayfair litigation team as a Chambers 2016 ‘Associate to Watch”. “A star in the making”, Jo rose quickly in the profession and in October 2016 joined Vardags as a Director. Jo has been involved in some of the most complex and high profile cases going through the High Courts, including a Schedule 1 case for a leading sports family and the enforcement of a worldwide freezing order in a case including extremely substantial assets.

Personal: Jo is a Northern soul, being Newcastle born and bred. She enjoys skiing, running, yoga and reading.
