Robert Conway is a Partner at Vardags. As Head of Criminal Defence, he has over a decade’s experience advising clients who have been arrested and are subject to investigation by the police and other investigating bodies including the SFO and HMRC. Robert is a versatile defence lawyer and his experience of defending clients at every stage of proceedings as both litigator and advocate allows him to bring a tactical and strategic savvy to his practice.
Robert read Geography at Birmingham University then studied Law at Cardiff.
Robert is frequently asked to provide expert comment by a range of high-profile media outlets including the Times, the Telegraph, the Daily Mail, the Huffington Post, Bloomberg and Vice. He has also done a number of broadcast interviews including ITV News and discussion programme Roundtable.
After gaining his higher rights, Robert has regularly conducted trials at the Crown Court and defended clients in respect of a full range of criminal cases from violent and sexual offences to fraud and serious and complex trafficking and drug conspiracies. He has experience of representing clients in high-profile cases and successfully defended a client in the SFO’s first successful prosecution of a corporate for bribery arising from allegations concerning corrupt overseas payments.
In his spare time Robert enjoys music, cycling and photography.
