Vardags appoints top talent to lead Winchester office

The Vardags Winchester office is to receive a major boost with Winchester local Olivia Buchan, Vardags rising star, appointed from the London office to lead it, in consultation with Director Neil Graham.

Vardags, family lawyers to the super-rich, first established its Winchester office in 2012 to bring the quality of a top London family law firm to the provinces. The firms client base has grown rapidly to make Winchester a significant part of the firms business.

The office is based in the heart of the historic city and offers a fully-fledged family law service, including prenup and postnup agreements, wills, trusts, arbitration, child contact arrangements, domestic violence and divorce.

Olivia is an associate at Vardags, dealing with high and ultra-high-net worth matrimonial cases. She grew up in central Winchester and attended St Swithuns school, and has lived in Winchester for over twenty years.

A graduate of Jesus College, Oxford, headhunted by Vardags from magic circle City firm Slaughter and May and drawn to the more human and empathetic challenges of family law, Olivia applies her expertise in complex corporate and financial structures get to the bottom of the finances in her cases.

Of her new role and return to her roots, Olivia said:

I cant wait to get going on bringing home to Winchester the skills Ive built up at two world-class London/international law firms. From my life in Winchester I know how many financially sophisticated, entrepreneurial and highly successful individuals reside in the city and the surrounding areas. They deserve absolutely the best legal advice for their challenging and complex cases but it can be inconvenient for them to travel to London to get it. Vardags provides clients in the Winchester area the option of meeting with one of our specialist team in Winchester if they dont want to travel to our London office by St Pauls.

Ayesha Vardag, President of Vardags, said:

Vardags has had a presence in Winchester for the past five years, during which time my family lived there and my children went to its extraordinary schools. As client numbers marched upwards we decided its worth investing one of our brightest and best to run the Winchester office and really bed down, but it had to be the right fit. Olivia is both part of the local community and embodies the qualities and values of Vardags. Shes a super-bright family lawyer and extremely results-focussed as well as a true people-person and a huge personality. This is going to be a very exciting phase for Vardags in the uniquely gracious city of Winchester. It also marks the next step in Vardags mission to bring world class service to the doorsteps of our clients.

In the last year alone, Vardags have represented tycoons, celebrities, sheiks and princesses, and the firm is currently working for former Miss Malaysia Pauline Chai, against the owner of Laura Ashley and Corus Hotels, Khoo Kay Peng, in an extremely high-profile case.
