Le Tour de Vardags

In support of Intermission Youth Theatre, Vardags is embarking upon one of our most ambitious challenges yet. Introducing Le Tour de Vardags: a fundraising cycle tour covering 5 days, 4 English cities and 387 miles. The ride will kick off at our Newcastle Office on 14 September, reaching Manchester the following day and pedalling into Cambridge on 17 September before crossing the finish line in London on 18 September. All of this is in aid of an excellent cause: Intermission Youth Theatre, an arts-based youth mentoring programme that empowers young people who are at risk of offending, ex-offenders, or lacking in opportunities, to improve their lives through theatre. IYT takes Shakespeare as its inspiration, reimagining the works of the Bard for a contemporary world. Every year at IYT culminates in a four-week run of professional production, with workshops, a Summer school, mentoring and pastoral care along the way.

We believe that engaging young people with Shakespeare’s work can help enhance their dramatic creativity and confidence, raise their ambitions and aspirations, as well as develop their critical thinking skills to better prepare them for making life choices.
