“Widely regarded as one of the top divorce lawyers in the country.”
Vardags Managing Director, and top international divorce lawyer, Catherine Thomas, led the way as the star of the Sunday Times coverage of Management Today’s ’35 businesswomen under 35’ hitlist.
This list recognises the achievements of the brightest, most ambitious and hardworking businesswomen in all sectors from fashion design to law, banking to the civil service. To make this list is to join illustrious alumni such as Martha Lane Fox, Elisabeth Murdoch and Stella McCartney.
Catherine’s inclusion on this list is due to her own self-belief and determination to achieve her ambition. When she sought support for her dream of becoming a lawyer at her school and said she wished to go to Oxford, she was informed, as she mentions in the article, “it was a stupid idea and a waste of an application". As Catherine details, she was in fact mocked by her “A-level teacher … in front of the entire class and told "she would embarrass" herself by applying to Oxford.
Her response was to go to Oxford, achieve an MA in jurisprudence, become a partner in a law firm by the time she was 26 and go on to be “widely regarded as one of the top divorce lawyers in the country". As Catherine reflects, this sort of “reaction was a gift". She “knew she had to prove them wrong”, which she has achieved in her current acclaim as a top international divorce lawyer.
