It was a busy Sunday for Team Vardags at Borde Hill event in West Sussex with three horses competing on the same day! Helena Vardag-Walters had a fantastic start to the morning on both of her rides, Noble Nuteller (Nutty) and Vardags Bucephalus (Cephy) in the dressage, gaining an superb score of 25.3 on Nutty.
Perfectly set up for the next phases, Helena had two excellent show jumping rounds with a clear on Cephy and one pole down with Nutty. Heading into the final cross-country phase, Helena was well placed on the score board. Her first round on Cephy did not go completely to plan, with Helena taking a tumble after a fence due to some slippery ground. This did not stop Helena who, with great courage, set out on her second cross-country round of the day on Nutty. The pair did a beautiful clear round coming 13th overall in their section.
Vivendi de Vardag, with Flora Harris on board, competed in her first ever British Eventing competition, with the young mare showing much promise. Though Vivendi was justifiably a little bit green the pair gained a very respectable 31 in the dressage, doing a lovely test and equally good double clears in both the show jumping and the cross-country: definitely another Vardags star in the making!
