The table, commissioned by JP Morgan and carried out by Beauhurst, studied the 6,085 high-growth companies in the UK that are founded, led or managed by women. To determine the top 200, the researchers applied three metrics - growth in sales, headcount and valuation.

Vardags was ranked as the third-highest legal services firm and the highest ranked law firm outside of the North of the England.

Alongside the construction of this ranking, which can be [viewed in full here](https://privatebank.jpmorgan.com/content/dam/jpm-wm-aem/documents/en/other/top-200-female-powered-businesses/JPM-Top-200-Female-Powered-Businesse-%20Report_Final.pdf), the report also included data relating to the performance of female-powered firms. In 2020, female-powered businesses raised £2.3 billion in equity investment - a new record and a 41% increase from 2019.

The outlook was not entirely positive, however, with researchers finding that companies predominantly led by women saw a 27% decline in seed-stage equity deals compared to 2019.

Alongside this performance data, the researchers also studied the sectors and regions with the highest density of female-led businesses.

According to their findings, the high-growth craft industry sector was the most dominated by female-led businesses, with these companies accounting for 42% of the sector. While London is home to the most female-powered businesses (2,189), when percentage share is considered, Scotland has the largest proportion, where they make up 22% of the high-growth company population.
