Jhene Aiko files for divorce ============================ ![Jhene Aiko files for divorce](https://vardags.com/images/pictures/_360/1c0d9ff34ab5dc84bac711bd3d44b376.jpeg)Singer Jhene Aiko filed for divorce from music producer husband **Oladipo Omishore, professionally known as '**Dot da Genius' earlier this month, a move that comes as a surprise to many who apparently [believed their marriage to be a rumour](https://www.eonline.com/news/749280/jhene-aiko-is-married-dot-da-genius-finally-confirms-relationship-status-with-wedding-day-photo). Despite photographic evidence and social media posts confirming the marriage, entertainment news outlet *E Online* only 'broke the news' about the couple's two year marriage in March of this year. However, Aiko has since filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and has asked the judge to deny spousal support for Omishore. This news is apparently less surprising for fans as Aiko has been rumoured to be [in a relationship with Big Sean](https://www.eonline.com/uk/news/787163/jhene-aiko-files-for-divorce-from-dot-da-genius). Court documents state that Aiko and Omishore separated in June of last year, but she has accused him of trying to 'play the victim' by using social media to make her out to be a cheater. Of course, in the eyes of the law, as the two are still married any other relationship would be adulterous, but Aiko also said that she is "glad to be free from all the drugs, depression and confrontation." Omishore responded with a , saying "In light of the public threats, false allegations, and attempts to slander my name and character, I am compelled to speak up. Because my nature is peaceful, I've been silent out of respect for all involved, and to maintain my privacy. "However, I believe the truth must be heard, which is that I've never been violent or abusive towards any woman in my life. Such behaviour is abhorrent to me and far from how I conduct myself. Moving forward I will continue to focus on my family, friends and music, and soon enough the entire truth shall come to light." Whatever the entire truth may be, accusations of domestic violence among famous couples tends to have a polarising effect on the media as well as their fans. The case is ongoing.
