Paltrow and Martin famously called their separation a ['conscious uncoupling](https://goop.com/conscious-uncoupling-2/)' in a statement released on Paltrow's lifestyle website, Goop. The term refers to a spiritual journey undertaken together, leading to an amicable separation which will take into account the needs of any children a couple have together. The announcement, made in March 2014, caused the website to crash due to the volume of traffic it created. The divorce was signed off by a Los Angeles judge and states that neither Paltrow nor Martin will pay spousal support. The pair married in 2003 and have two children, Apple, 12, and Moses, 10.
